Talmud Study, Shabbat Afternoon
1:00pm
Following services and kiddush lunch, a group of congregants study Talmud together, led by congregant Mark Chodrow.

Participation is an important part of our community so at any given time you will find the preliminary services and Shacharit services are led by either Rabbi Roston or various skilled leaders. Participation in the Torah service is an important part of Beth El's culture. Every week, members of our congregation and the bar/bat mitzvah and their families, chant the weekly verses as well as those of the Haftarah. Younger children often lead prayers such as Ashrei, Ein Keloheynu and Adon Olam. After Rabbi Roston's teaching, the congregation participates in chanting of the uplifting melodies of the musaf service.

We end each Shabbat morning at Beth El with a communal kiddush luncheon for all ages where old friends and newcomers, children and adults, congregants and clergy gather together in celebration and community.

In addition to the traditional main service, Beth El offers many opportunities to learn and engage in different spiritual opportunities. Make this the year you try Shabbat at Beth El!

During the second half of the year, Vav (6th grade) class students are called to the Torah to chant a short verse. This special aliyah helps our students prepare for their upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah. It is a wonderful experience shared by the entire family.

Opportunities to lead parts of the service as well as present short teachings. (We expect all students to attend a minimum of 1 ½ hrs. of this service with the hope that students will increase their time as the year progresses.) At least one parent should accompany their child at services. Zayin class may include b’nai mitzvot celebrated at other synagogues.

Throughout the year, we offer flexible Shabbat alternative experiences to match the diversity of spiritual, cultural and educational interests of our congregation & community. From meditation to family services to inspiring discussions, we believe these options strengthen Jewish identity and the Beth El community.
