Who We Are

Beth El is a warm, friendly and vibrant congregation located in South Orange, New Jersey. In addition to our home town, members come from the surrounding communities of Maplewood, West Orange, Millburn/Short Hills, Livingston and from various towns in Morris and Union counties.

Beth El is a conservative, egalitarian community of 500 households. We offer a wide range of religious, educational and social activities for all ages -- from toddlers to seniors, and for all walks of life -- from newlyweds to empty nesters and interfaith families to same sex couples. We want everyone to feel comfortable at Beth El, so let us know if we're missing something! As you review our website you will find extensive descriptions of our programming & events, various worship services, and education programs from preschool to adult ed, many of which have been recognized for their excellence and have won both local and national awards.

Over the past year, Rabbi Francine Roston and Cantor Perry Fine, have taken our religious services, learning opportunities, cultural programs and community involvement to new heights. Congregation Beth El has also created various Shabbat experiences through it's new SYNAPLEX program including Beth El Friday Night Live! services thoughout the year.

We invite you to come to a Shabbat service or any of our wide range of programs and special events. Please introduce yourself. We're sure we'll connect. It happens all the time. We can't explain it, you'll have to see for yourself.
