Education

At Beth El, we are committed to traveling together on a journey of Jewish living, learning and tikkun olam. Under the guidance of Rabbi Francine Roston and the Director of Congregational Learning, Sherri Morris, we will continue to create innovative learning experiences for the entire synagogue community, encompassing all ages, backgrounds, and levels of observance.

Rabbi Roston explains, “Through active life-long engagement with our texts, history, music and arts, we aspire to grow continuously as individuals, as members of the Jewish Community and as citizens of the world. I look forward to studying side-by-side and celebrating the joys of Jewish education as a community.”

Today’s adults are engaging in Jewish learning not only in greater numbers but also in greater depth. Our programs will help us seek meaning and connection to our lives from texts and teachers. We will not only learn “how” but also “why”.

Through the Thelma K. Reisman Preschool, the Jewish Learning Center and our Teen and Adult Education programs there will be multiple learning opportunities for everyone including family education, Shabbat learning and multi-generational learning.

Our programming has included beginners and Hebrew conversation classes, adult b'nai mitzvah classes, Shabbat morning Torah discussions of the text, and weekly Talmud classes; the Sisterhood Rosh Hodesh study group; adult education guest speakers from the Jewish Theological Seminary, holiday family workshops.

Please explore the options at the left and feel free to contact program chairpeople or Sherri Morris for more information. We encourage prospective parents to bring their children to observe both our Preschool and the Jewish Learning Center. Please call the director of each school to schedule an appointment.
